Extreme

On wednesday we went to xtreme adventure centre in Swords.
Me, Hannah, Aoife and Clionadh were in a group together, it didnt work out well. Our first activity was to climb a pole with a small platform on top for all four of us to stand on.

Hannah got up fine, me, aoife and cloinadh struggled a little bit.. it took us probably an hour to get all of us on top and calm us down. When we were finally back on the ground it was fun.
After that we did the obstacle course which wasnt as bad. Then we did the zip wire and a jump thing off a tower. We then went to Liffey and I bought a burrito.

It was a really great day out!!

Swim A Mile

Displaying image1.PNGOn Tuesday we went to the National Aquatic Center to participate in swim a mile, with a smile. We fundraised outside school for Crumlins children hospital and Barretstown.
On the day I was in a group with Hannah, Pia, Jane, Molly, Eve and Amy. We did our first mile really fast bcos there were so many of us. After that me, molly, hannah and eve did a mile ourselves so overall we did just over 2 miles.

It was a really fun day and it was great to do something for charity that was also great fun!! I'd love to do it next year again:)

Driving Lessons

Last week we went driving for the first time. We spent the morning doing tests and games to do with road safety. Then we went out for lunch.

After lunch we got to drive. Me Hannah and Chloe shared a car. Hannah drove first. Driving isn't as bad as I thought it would be once I was shown what to do I found it pretty easy. The only thing I couldnt do well was left turns. I dont know why but I just found it easier to drive to the right.
I love driving and really want to start doing actual lessons to get my provisional licence soon.

Mini company

On Tuesday my mini company went to our regional competition in Naas. We arrived at around 10 and had to set up our stand. Our stand looked amazing, thanks to Clara. At 11 we had to go up and make a short presentation about our product, we were all really nervous but I think we all presented really well thanks to the rehearsals from Mrs Mcmahon.

After that we went back to our stalls and had a look around at all the other companies. They were all amazing. The judges came around at 12 and we talked to each one of them individually. They were all so nice and were full of great opinions that are really gonna help our company.

After that we had an amazing lunch and waited for the results. We won most innovated idea which was amazing! We took pictures with the judges and mayor and were presented our trophy and €100.

Thanks to everyone for the support!! We'll still be selling in our school and online very soon!

On Friday the 27th of February my school went into town to a fundraiser for esophageal cancer, called Lollipop Day. We spent the day selling lollipops in town, our school made around €700 for this cause which is amazing. We all got t-shirts and caps to wear around town which made the day really fun.

It was a really nice but long day out. Fundraising was really rewarding and I hope we do more of it in the future.

Friday 13 February 2015

I finished my work experience in Palmerstown Veterinary Hosptial this week. I had a great 6 weeks there, I've done so much stuff that I never thought I would do. Stuff like assisting in surgery and helping give the dogs their injections.

My favourite part of this expeience was helping the dogs who had to be sent to a rescue centre. One dog in particular was a staff cross called Brownie. His owner wanted to have him put down because he was too expensive to have with his skin condition. The vets happily took the dog in and cared for him for the week until a shelter could take him.

It was sad seeing a dog who had been abandoned like that but I happily took him for walks and fed him that day when he needed it.

I will miss working at the vet I had a great experience there.

Mini Company Competition

Yesterday was the school final of the mini company competition. We started the day by setting up our stands and practicing what we were going to say at our presentation. The judges came around once to say hi and see what our product was about. The judges this year was Ms Leeahy, the old TY coordinator from our school and another woman.

After they had seen everyones stands everyone took turns to go up and talk about their product and how their company ran for around 3 minutes. Our presentation went well but I did forget what my job was at the start but the judges were understanding that it was just nerves.

Clara made us t-shirts to wear which i think brought us up in points. After lunch the judges came back and told us the two groups who got through were bam beauty and us!, i.protect!!

We were so happy, Mrs Barry came up to congratulate us and take pictures and then we said thanks to the judges. We're competing on the 10th March next month in the Kildare finial!

Well done to everyone who participated. Everyones ideas were great!
